Aelar was born and raised in Menzoberranzan, but fled after being forced to chose between becoming a cleric of Lolth or getting married. Despite centuries on the surface, anti-Drow racism has left him with friends besides the pigeons that nest underneath his window. He was a bartender at The Yawning Portal in Waterdeep until he was abducted by the Mind Flayers for Illithidfication.
